When the striped bass bite starts up, Porter's Castaic Magic Shad is our go-to topwater and shallow floating bait. A 1.5" body micro-fluke bait measuring 2" from nose to tail edge. This bait was custom made to spec based on local Castaic lake shad including its size, shape and coloring.
After its effectiveness in the Sierras, we added additional colors including Porter's Trout Magic, as well as C3 Baby Bass, C3 Neptune Shad and a new Smoke Shad also hand-made exclusively by C3 Baits.
This bait is the closest replica of the average-sized year-round Castaic Lake Shad in existence and is effective using a variety of presentations.
